My car is up to 6k. Wow. Last week a nice redone '69 failed to hit reserve at $8,100. I decided to relist mine. Wonder if the bidders are for real, sure hope so. Really hate to let her go but, I'll be back in a few years, get some kids through the door and free up some fundage and I'll be back with a vengeance!!
Not sure if I should hope the deal goes through or it sours as I wouldn't mind an excuse to keep the thing, what cool cars.

It looks like you have 2 bidders.....a newb and someone with 47 feedback points. The guy with all the points is likely a good bidder, but the new guy with no points is probably not (or is suspect). I always exclude people with no feedback until they e-mail me first and get a conversation going. You can pretty much figure out if they are a serious bidder by e-mailing a few times.

Good luck!

Yes, I got a hold of him right away. "Seems" legit. Two guys fighting over it, both seem legit. Time will tell I guess.

Yep, that's more than I expected. I had reserve at 5 which is what I think the market value is. I had it for sale all summer and on ebay 3 other times and it never got more than $4200. Am I happy? Not really, I love the stupid little car I really do but well, I have get my kids grown up a bit and out the door, then I'll get a toy like this again. In the meantime, my $800 Fiat X 1/9 is helping ease the pain. The X can be driven practically year round and isn't so precious that I don't dare drive it with the idiots on the highway. Sad to be taking a hiatus. This place has been an amazing resource.
Buyer wants me to put on the side chrome. I don't want to. If I would have dared I would have done it before, now that it is almost his, I sure don't dare take a drill to it. I guess.

Oooh. You know, I just had a though. If I were going to do the side chrome I would use a laser level. I have a Craftsman that I paid like $40 for and I've used it for doing all sorts of layout work. Take a couple reference measurements, shoot a line, and drill your holes. Repeat for the other side. Even if you don't already own a laser level I'm guessing a shop would charge more than $40 bucks to do it. Just keep in mind that you don't really want an auto-levelling laser level because chances are your car won't be at a perpendicular to gravity.

Or, just tape a string where you want the trim, put a piece of tape where you need to drill it, mark it, hold your breath, and drill. As long as you're careful about laying out the holes, it should go fine.

I know about the angst. I want to put a radio antenna in my Porsche, but I really don't want to drill the hole. But there's a bit difference between a few screw holes and a 1" hole for a radio antenna in a curved surface. If it were flat, no problem; I'd just use a hole punch. But I don't know if that would work on a surface that isn't flat.

I had the trim all laid out on the car last summer. I stuck it all on with magnets and leveled it, spaced it perfectly, then ran some painter's tape along the top and bottom edge, removed the trim and had a clear area for drilling, then my co-pilot (8 year old son) got mad at me and I chickened out.
Trim install was NOT a condition of the sale and I feel perfectly with-in my rights to simply say no but I want to be nice too.

shipped the trim in the trunk...no stress and you still get paid the same amount.

This time next year the buyer will not even remember your name, much less how nice you are about the sale. If home cooking ain't involved it don't matter.
