General TR LBC's no longer in their prime...

Just today the top latch handle popped off the little pin thingy that holds the top bow in place on the windshield - I have no idea what any of these little pieces are called, either here in the US or in England. Anyway, the screw sheared off, and it ain't coming out. So while I can still use it to latch the top, I set off to find another. Had to drive through NJ for work today, so I decided to visit a small LBC yard I had seen from the highway a few times, but never visited. They had a small yard in the front and a garage in the back where two guys were busy working on several LBC's in mid-restoration, but no one else was around so I couldn't find my little piece, but I did see a few interesting cars in the yard I thought I'd share with you folks.
In order we have a TR250 and a GT6 in probably somewhat restorable condition.

Next is an MGA and what I believe to be a Morgan +4, or at least what left of it.

Kind of sad really...

Marvin, Glad to see you are awake.
Like you, the 250 looked to have some possibility. When are you coming by here to make the road trip to pick it up.

We need to get Tom to give us some info, lets go, we have done dumber things, I have anyway.

I think that place is called British Miles at britishmiles.com
That's the place. Yeah, the TR250 looks like it was parked there. As did the GT6. I've always wanted one of those. The one guy working in back said everything was for sale. From what he said, it seems as if the owner just collected them, buying whatever he could find.

OK, Tom, Right about now you are starting to get on my nerves! LOL
Thanks, it's looks even more like a good candidate, just depends on the bondo cover. I got a TR6 once that had no seams anywhere and all the floors were flat.

Did you look it over Tom, with your TR6 you would know what to look for and what did you think.

Wayne (inquiring minds what to know) LOL

Wayne,

Had I planned to go there, yes, I probably would've crawled all over it. As it was, I was wearing a jacket and tie heading off to a visit a customer in NJ that day, so no, beyond getting mud on my shoes (it was raining), I didn't get that chance. Now, if you really want to get annoyed, I could most likely squeeze in some time and get back there in the next week or so...

Do you want to see the interior picture I took through the back window? It needs a new dash, all the veneer is peeling off... It has a Feb 2010 inspection sticker, so I'd say it's been off the road at least six years. According to Google Streetview, it's been there since at least Oct 2012.
Oh what the heck... *twist* *twist*

Wayne,
you are closer than me! It has the amco armrest in it, they are getting hard to find.
Marv
Yippee, I see a return trip in my future... :eagerness:

I was wondering about that armrest, and whether it would fit in the TR6.

Marvin, do not encourage this guy, he is stealing all the good stuff. LOL

Have fun Tom and I hope you can get it at a reasonable price.

I would love to get that car.. Problem is I have no place to put it, nor the time to work on it, yet. Besides, I'd rather have the GT6. I've got the TR6, now I just need the original hot hatch!

Tom, just finished up a CGT6 and starting another. It will fly, both GT6's were basically junk, they rot very badly, if you get one, check out the rust first, the drive trains seem to hold up well.

... a CGT6 and starting another.

Do you mean an MGC GT? I tried to buy one of those out of a barn in NY about ten years ago, from a friend's father-in-law. He had to sell the property, he was older and out of work with nothing but SS. But he was a hoarder and refused to sell it. Don't know what happened to that car.

Now you're killing me! I know the replacement parts availability for these things is amazing. And I'm not interested in a restoration, I want to drive my cars. I still look at that Morgan +4, although essentially that would be building a new car around, maybe a washer or something. :encouragement:
