it lives for now... challenge car up-dates
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gifWell, my trip out east in search of a Spitfire worthy of becoming a $2005 Challenge car was a relative success. The car I picked up was almost as big a pile as the brown car I started with. After a few hours of trouble shooting and cleaning, it fired right up. It runs OK considering it had been sitting outside since '92. Question for you guys, are there any tweaks that can/should be done to the carb since it now lives at 5000 ft? It runs better with the choke pulled out even when it's warm. I don't have alot of experience with the side draft carb, my last Spit had a Weber. I was hoping to e-test the new car so I can get plates for it before doing the swap. As it sits now, I was going to use the body off the running car and the chassis from the other. The brown car is now just a bare frame with the rear half lopped off. Boy howdy that thing was rusty! I'm actually a little concerened about using even the front half. I should have some pix up in a few days, of both cars.(I'm hopin' for a digi cam for X-mas /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif) I did get a whole bunch of cool parts for super cheap from a circle track swapmeet of all places! There were visions of Deliverence flashing before my eyes, but then again this is coming from a guy cramming a V-8 where it shouldn't be. Oh well, at least the cars didn't go to the crusher. In case you guys missed it before, here's what started the whole trip; https://www.grassrootsmotorsports.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=5853 My buddy bough the 4 and is going to restore it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
