Installing New Sun Visors?

Howdy all. I just got a new set of sun visors for my 250 from TRF. I planned on using the existing hardware. The question is how do I get the existing visors off the rods, and more importantly, how do I get the new visors on the rods? Thanks so much!

When you find the trick to getting them to stay up, with or without new hardware, let me know. I'm on my third set and they still fall down.

The new sun visors usually come with a new rod. If not they slide off. Hold one end with a vise grip and twist as you pull the old visor out from the rod. If the new visor does not have the rod installed , it should push in with little resistance.

As far as keeping them from drooping, I have had good results by gently bending the rod in a mild arc. This puts enough tension on the visor to hold position.

Paul,

Either bending the rods slightly or by using some tape wrapped around the section of the rod that's hidden by the visor itself will keep them in place.

Of all the problems we have ever had with these cars, keeping the flippin sunvisors up has always bugged the heck out of me. Finally, someone on the forum told me about bending the rod (I tried every trick in the book, tape, etc.) so I pulled the rod, stuck it in the bench vice and banged on it (actually recurved it a bit) till I got the rod to go in snuggly. Had to experiment a few times. Now those suckers stay up at 70mph. Hallelujah!!!!

I can now sleep at night....

Mine are rusted/stuck up in position. I've heard so much about them dropping that I'm afraid to WD-40 them and get them working again.

Mine are long gone and will remain that way. They are a nuisance. Unless you are "vertically challenged" they do no good with the top up, and they are just one more thing to deal with in putting the top down. Never needed them. But then I wear a cap and sunglasses all of the time anyway.
Sorry, not an answer to your question, just one mans rant.
