A series of unfortunate events (including a motorcycle crash I thankfully walked away from) has had me doing some thinking and recalculating what is important to me. As a result, the bike -- once repaired -- will be going to a new home. As I don't want to miss the next few driving seasons while I finish Penny Bugeye's restoration I started browsing around locally for something 4-wheeled and interesting to me.

Well, I expect to arrive at a deal later on today. Assuming it gets done, I'll post some pics and details. You'll understand my interest in this when you see pics.

The deal has been agreed upon, so I can reveal details. 1967 MGB GT, right hand drive, with overdrive. Almost bought this car last year at this time from a seller in Colorado, but decided I didn't want a GT then. In an example of small worlds a fellow local to me wound up buying it so I had a chance to see it up close. When he decided to sell it I got interested again. My recent motorcycle crash got me reconsidering some priorities, so I pursued it and we arrived at a deal.

I now have to sign a contract with my wife that I won't buy or sell anything else for 10 years. Fair enough.

It's a solid car, though not without some issues. Still, it runs and drives with great oil pressure and the body is sound. This will be a driver with minimal money allocated, so it'll get new tires all around and that'll have to be it other than maintenance and repairs until Penny Bugeye is finished.

Living proof that a man will say or do anything to get laid or buy a new car. Looks like a nice B and we all know you were powerless to resist once you saw it was RHD.

:applause: Nice find. have you ever REALLY left the fold? Im very glad you walked away from the wreck, those can be a real roll of the dice. Luckely the only time I laid a Bike down was at slower speeds when I didnt see the gravel and my front slid out. When I get my motor back together Utah canyons here we come! Though I dare say you will be rolling with a lot more style sir.

We do what we have to do sometimes...

And yes, there was noway I could resist. Ah well, will be nice to play with a non-convertible for a change.

I admit that the role-of-the-dice bit got me thinking pretty seriously.

Lots of good drives down here, get that B together and I'll show you around.

Thanks, Steve. The deal with myself when I decided to pursue this car was that I had to be committed to keeping it and the Bugeye for a long time.

Thanks, Mikey. I really do hope it all turns out well.

Going over to pick the car up after work today, so I'll have a few more pictures to post. It's definitely a 20-footer, but that's just fine by me. First thing I need to do is find someone who can handle wire wheels, as the tires are a bit on the bald side.

Speechless-ish I think.

The GT is my motorcycle replacement, gives me something to drive for the next couple years while I'm restoring Penny. I don't want to rush the Bugeye work, but I also don't want to be without something to drive for those years. I know myself well enough to know I need to be able to take a break from the restoration work and go for a drive. The bike was to be that outlet, but a little post-crash soul searching means I'm done with that activity.

Its the right color , good choice. OD is nice , my 69 has it. The rh drive is kinda cool but you might tire of it quicker than you think , esp. when you keep climbing in the other side by mistake !

My last MGB (had it 3 seasons, sold it last fall) was RHD, loved it. My Bugeye is RHD as well. After the first couple days it was completely natural to me. Though after driving my old B for a week once I did get in on the wrong side of my regular daily driver. Wife got a good laugh out of that.

It's my particular little quirk when it comes to these cars. Ah well, so it goes.

Reminds me when we were in England last. Wife and I went out for lunch at a pub in the country, when we came out, yes you guessed it, I jumped in the left side and for a second was lost wondering where the wheel was! And yes, like your wife, mine laughed like crazy! All women are like that I guess. Very embarrassing, as there was a crowd of people in the parking lot. :highly_amused: PJ

Had to postpone the car pick up tonight due to snow. Yes, snow. Brrrrrr!

Did give this to my wife tonight, and yes I do mean it. She's a good woman.

Drew,
the Tunebug was 'one of those cars' along with Whitefrog and Miss Agatha that helped push me over the Bugeye hump and I ended up buying Scarlet as my first restoration project. I read with interest when you bought your B and became acutely aware of the size of my Bugeye after hip surgery. I looked for a TR4a and drove a few TR6s, but they were as confining as my Bugeye due to them shrinking over the years or me getting bigger and I no longer fit like I did in the 60s and 70s. I found an MGB locally for a good price and pulled the trigger knowing the engine needed a rebuild. I fit really well in the car and look forward to driving it in the near future as I continue to work on the Bugeye. I'm still up in the air about the RHD conversion, but it have all the parts reconditioned and ready to go.
