A. Testing the strength of the support rags on the right?

B. Trying to envision how a coil would look mounted to a radiator core?

C. Testing the concept of black and yellow versus black and red for engine compartment colors?

Hi Don,

Man, If that "Pretty Cool Looking" set-up does`nt keep things running "Cool"; Nothing will.

Really looks a Great Idea to Me.

Gawd, Don - your subject line gave me a flashback:

Is your picture "before" or "after"?

I replaced the stock connectors with "johnson pole connectors" rated for 30 amps. you can get twenty five color coded black and white for about $20 from ham radio shops. the stock connectors on mine melted when one of the motors froze up.

Uh Oh, someones working on a wedge radiator. Are those new replacement fans or cleaned up old ones?

I wondered what that was out of, although I should have guessed. Is that the standard for a TR7 and TR8 or just the TR8?

A/C cars - both 7's and 8's, I believe.

By the way, picture's upside down.

This is a very neat setup, with the radiator supported by the fan frame, on rubber "donuts" on the bottom cross piece.

Mickey Just after removal. So far i only have 1 fan. Was a surprise when I removed it and looked at the existing fans. I thought the Boxster ones fit with their shroud not just the fans. How cool is that.
Starting the engine tear down for the cam and lifter change yesterday. Whose idea was it NOT to put a drain valve on the rad?

But it DOES have a drain...

...the lower radiator hose!

Drains REAL fast, that!

OK, I'll bite. I get the electric fan deal and it appears to be a very neat installation, but the coil still baffles me. I'm guessing you need the resistance to cut the voltage to run 2 volt fan motors with the 12 volts available. OK that's dumb, but the best I can do.

Without going out to the driveway to look I'm going to say passenger side.

My over flow tank is not on the fender as some and is on the engine connected to the alt. bracket . How in the world can you possibly even see the pointer to time the thing ?
Isn't that the normal location for the coil?

Dale, what I was showing Mickey was I am starting the Boxster fan conversion.

That's the ignition coil - mounted where it's s'posed to be, next to the ballast resistor.

Fans are wired with relays to two temp sending units. One on the radiator that cuts in at low temp; the other on the manifold that is high temp. Both fans operate; low speed with the low temp, and high with the other.

DNK-
The expansion tank mounted on the alternator bracket is a 1980 & 81 fuel injection car set up. The air filter mounts on the passenger side front of the inner fender so BL moved the tank. The brackets are pretty rare. You might want to move the tank to the inner fender. It helps with the cooling.
