TR4/4A Gearbox front cover[Moss 848-000] torque spec?

Anyone know what this spec is? What's the best source for Specs for our cars?
Also...can I use "Permatex Ultra Black" for the front cover in place of a gasket or is it always better to use a paper gasket?....last time I bought a Diff cover gasket none of the holes aligned up right.:grumpy:

The workshop manual is always the first place I look. Since that's the later part number, I looked in the TR6 manual, which says 20 ftlb.

I dislike using RTV gasket makers, as it is easy for them to squeeze out of the joint on the inside and form a string that can eventually break off and go wandering. For example, we once took a very chilly trip to the Grand Teton National Park (in the parts hauler wagon) with the heater not working; because some shop had used RTV when replacing the water pump. Cost me $300 just to get the cooling system cleaned out; plus made the trip rather uncomfortable (outside temp was 5F when we got to the park).
