MGB Finally some progress -- floors painted

Finally had a chance to make some progress on my "winter" MGB projects. Yesterday was warm enough that I was able to get the floors repainted. They had a bit of surface rust here and there (the floors were replaced at some point in the past) but the biggest problem was that the paint was failing in places, coming off in big sheets. Picked up one of the POR15 starter kits and went through the process.

Had enough paint to do a single brushed coat -- it's probably a bit thin, but it'll do. May top-coat it with something else in the future, but it's way better than it was. Process was easy enough, just follow the directions.

Black's not my first choice, but they don't make a white. It'll be covered with carpet anyways so I'm not too fussed. Good enough for floors at any rate. I'll give it a couple days to cure then it will be time to get the interior bits installed.

Checking back on the floors a few days on and I think this will work out just fine. Can't say it's pretty, but it's completely covered and the paint seems to be adhering just fine. Will protect the metal, and that's the important bit.

For future reference, you need two of the starter kits to do an MGB floor properly -- one kit only gets you one brushed on coat.

Now just put a coat of a similar color to the rest of the car and you have protection, Drew. Looks good, BTW!

I'm thinking about doing that, Doc. Just need to find a white I can brush on -- trying to spray without taking the interior of the car apart is too daunting.

Well the floors are all done now, though they do look like they were painted with Rustoleum white and a $1 brush... because they were.

Still, it's a huge improvement over where I started, and should protect the metal nicely. As good as it needs to be, and now I can check this off the list and focus on getting the doors reassembled and the new interior panels installed.
