Contact Cement Go Away

So starting to work on my TR3A cappings and need to know the best way to get the original vinyl off. I am assuming that they used a contact cement. What's the best way to remove both? Should I try to get down to bare metal? Will the new adhesive bond if I don't?

A good solvent should take care of the contact cement or other adhesives. It might take a little time, depending on how much adhesive was used.

Howdy Eric,

Definitely get it down to Bare Metal. If all else fails; Throw some heat on it of sorts.
