"Classic Gold" Water Pumps

I got one of these,new,in the box with the GT.
Sold by Moss,made in China.I'm leery of ever putting
this on my car.I got this,along with a couple of boxes
of parts with the car.
Thoughts?

I would think that Moss has some quality control over the parts they get. If it goes bad its just a hours job to change if its on a MGB. I got a County brand cast iron pump for a MGB and the casting was so bad I returned it. I guess unless you can make one better yourself the choice is limited. There is a fellow in New York that rebuilds original pumps. Its probably going to cost double or triple what Moss gets for theirs. I can hunt down his information if anyone wants it. Bob

You can spec out junk to the lowest bidder in China or get the best state of the art technolgy the world has to offer from China. That being said, I get the cast iron water pumps for MGB engines I build and supply in my engine rebuild kits, and that have a cast propellor as well, and have had zero problems with them. You going to find out almost all of parts for our cars are going to be coming from China as times goes on, and it depends on the company buying those parts as to the quality of it, I've also bought absolute junk from the UK as well, so you get what you pay for and I always search for the best parts, regardless of where they are made. let's face if we all refused to use Chinese made stuff, none of would be on this forum right now, we wouldn't have computer to get on, and we'd probably running around naked as well :smile: Heck China is just providing us with the manufactuering jobs that no one here even wants. None of us are going to line up for low paying manufactuering jobs, and if we pay the workers $20 a hour, then neither of us could afford that water pump :smile:
