Classic Gold Semi-Metallic Brake Pad Set

Happy New Year everyone. Is anyone running with these brake pads that are available from Moss? Its time for new pads and I was thinking of putting these on. I like that the fact that the anti squealing material is bonded on the pad. My old pads were always squealing when hitting the brakes hard in a corner.

Squealing is caused by vibration transmission. The vast majority of squealing, and I'm not talking about first or second brake dust absorption squealing, is originated at the piston to back of pad contact.

If it has shims use them. If not get a good brake grease and lube the back of the pad, nice circular design and lube the edges of the pads where they might contact the caliper, and lube the holes in the pads where the pins slide through..

A slight chamfer cut on the leading edge of the pad, with the lubricating described above, is all the extra "engineering" needed to make sure your brakes no longer squeal

Also, if it has shims, make sure they are liberally lubricated, both sides.

If you use "standard" (i.e. the "cheaper") pads and do as Ron has outlined above you can save money, stop effectively in all but hammer-and-tongs race conditions and have no brake squeal. It's not so much the material as how the pads are in contact with the caliper and piston.
