Austin Healey 3000 Restoration by Gary Anderson

Hi Gang, Can anyone tell me why Austin Healey 3000 Restoration has not been reprinted in so many years? Every now and then , I see a copy for sale over the net, but stay away for numerous reasons. If anyone has a suggestion on how to get an original copy, I would appreciate the help.

If I were to produce a quantity of books I would first want to know the demand.
The existing book was allready digitalised, and also an e-book is available.
I have several original copies, but postage to the US kills the fun

If you're referring to the Restoration Guide, I have heard a "rumor" that Gary and Roger Moment were going to bring out an updated version with color photos and new info, but apparently still just a rumor. Thank goodness I bought one years ago ! However, if you are a member of the AHCUSA or join, you can download the excellent restoration series done by Roger Moment for free. Done over many issues of the club mag and now in PDF format.

I tried to download the Google ebook and discovered that it was not available. Prices in the used book market are a bit crazy, usually upwards of $300. I did manage to find one for about $150, plus shipping. A search of old ebay listings also revealed that one or two have sold cheaply there.

I had a gal that ran a used book store and always managed to find me books that were out of print at unbelievably low prices. I don't know how she did it, but maybe the assistance of someone like that would find it for you. Dave.

I have the original book, but I also bought a digital copy through Google's "Play Books" for about fifteen bucks. My original print version is stored safely in the vault in my home, the digital version is on all my Android devices that I can access anytime. The book has more than paid for itself by simply making bets with my uniformed Healey buddies. Candy from babies .

Wow!!! I went to the Play Books and I couldn't find anything there. I bought my digital copy about a year ago, they must have removed it from their selections. Sorry

If you go to the linked page above, there is a search box on the left side of the page. If you put the search terms you're looking for it will show all the pages in the book with those terms on the right of the page and the ones with a preview page will have an active link at the top in blue. It's not ideal, but better than nothing.

No edition to offer, though I do have one of the originals (along with the errata docs) that I had the good sense to buy while still in print.

For future reference: whenever I find a new Healey book (among a small list of others) I will always buy it right away, even reserving them when announced. There were enough times that I waited, only to find a book I wanted could no longer be had. In times of smaller (sometimes near-nonexistent) bank accounts, I always managed to budget $100.00/year for when Classic Motor Books (Osceola, WI) would hold their annual clear-out sale. Nowadays, I have a very substantial library, but I'll bet that more than half the books were bought at up to 20% of their original value (up to 80% DISCOUNTS).

The digital age may come and go, but I will always love my books. I will admit though, they're **** when it's time to move!!

My wife's X5 was practically on the bump-stops when I drove this load of books up to put in one (of three 8' x 8' x 16') shipping containers when we moved to Florida. The containers were a flat-rate, and the moving company was POUNDS X MILES.

Books: buy them while you can!

It's a nit, I suppose, but the book was written by Gary Anderson AND Roger Moment. Gary is an authority, but Roger is 'The Man' (I suspect Gary would agree). Roger wrote the restoration tips series in the AHCUSA mag, which is awesome.

In academic circles, the senior author is always listed last... So I wouldn't worry about Roger being slighted, the order of listing was deliberate.

I'm looking for this book as well... Frustrated that it's not available for less than $500!

I borrowed a copy via interlibrary loan and then scanned the entire book so that I could have a digital copy for future reference. If someone knows the authors and was able to get their permission, I would be happy to share my scanned file. I feel like it would be a violation of their intellectual property to distribute the file without their permission.
