So i just got back from california with a tr2 race car. i would really like to know some stuff about it since i really know nothing about british cars...
Heres wat i know.
It has a judson supercharger with a single barrel holley, Block number T52, head number 302137.
Is these cars 6 volt or 12 volt? it has a generator...
PLease help me out. i took a week off work and drove from nc to california coast and back to get it. i wanna have it on track in a month...

What sort of condition is the car in? A month may be a cake walk or impossible.

Was she in good running condition when you bought her?

Originally 12v, positive ground. The 1bbl Holley was part of the Judson conversion kit.

Your "block number" seems to be missing some letters, normally it would be something like TSxxxE, stamped on a flat surface below #3 spark plug and near the coil mount as I recall. The "head number" is just a casting number, not correlated to part or serial numbers.

Unless the block is TS2 which would be notable.

The spot Andy refers to for the engine number is a smooth boss just to the right of the coil.

If the engine number really is TS2-E, then this engine is valuable to the TR Register in England who have restored the second TR2 to have been assembled as a production car and while they were restoring it about 6 to 8 years ago, they had to use another engine from another early TR2. They could be interested in this engine to replace the substitute engine this TR2 has been using since the restoration.

Here's the story of TS 1 LO and also TS2

on the left hand side the only numbers are t52. and the only numbers on the head are 302137 on LH side between sparkplugs 2 and 3 and there is an A under the valve cover between 1 and 2.
I just disassembled entire engine, taking to machine shop to be baked out and blue printed.....

Don. how could i tell if it is or not? If someone could use the motor for originallity that would be good. im just racing.

If you look at the pictures on page 5 of this booklet on TS1LO, you'll see how the stamped engine serial number appears. If that's where you're seeing "t52," then it's possible you do indeed have one of the very earliest TR2 engine blocks (note that there should be an "E" somewhere after the other numbers, to denote Engine unit).

SR20DET? Nice! I've considered this engine myself! Its a shade tall for the bonnet, so you might have a bit of hammering in your future.
