67 Mustang Saga

This is a 67 coupe that I could not give away. It was in bad shape, I have had it since I was a kid. My younger son, my father along with myself completely rebuilt it. It was the last project my father was involved with... He passed away about 2 1/2 months ago.

The memory of the recent "incident" will soon fade. The memories of rebuilding it with your dad and son will last forever. Glad to see it is being fixed.

Early Mustangs were the first cars I ever fell for. Still may have to get one some day.

Glad to see it's being rebuilt -- a definite keeper, and this little incident will just be one more story to tell.

ack. That made some fond recollections emerge. There are several Mustangs in my past, all were "gone through" at some stage by me Ol'Fella and self. My da' passed long ago, but fond memories of MANY garage projects and the good company there are well etched.

When, in the mid 70's, working on a set of Webers on my Cortina and the thing REFUSING to settle down after MANY R&R exercises, he said to me: "You've got a PhD in entropy!" A couple of my garage wallah buddies were there to witness and guffaw.

--- thus the source of my honorary doctorate.

Tony;
We were very fortunate.. The engine compartment we reworked.
The wheel well and front quarter panel are new.
I hope to have it together by next week.
It could have been worse........
I have spent more time by a factor of 4 dealing with her insurance company then repairing the car.

I've had several Mustangs come into and out of my world. In High School I had a 69 Mach 1. My dad had a 69 Mach 1 new from the dealer - it was gold with a white interior. The one that is the most interesting is the blue coupe my dad got for my mother (uh huh, yeah right!). What is interesting about it is that I was born in December of 63 and my mother is POSITIVE we had the car BEFORE I was born. My dad was fairly well connected in the Pittsburgh auto hobby in those days and supposedly this Mustang had been ordered for the Mayor or someone of that order and when it came in they didn't want it so the dealer called my dad. Everything I know says that the Mustang was released in April/may of 64 hence the 64 1/2 designation. Could my dad have scored a Mustang in late November of 63?

Happy to hear it is in fact going to be an easy redo....I've not worked on US cars but I'm finding the Corvette I'm restoring to be an easy car to build.

Except for a mixture of metric & standard nuts & bolts from the factory!

I'd stick with the written record. I don't know your mother and I don't mean to offend but her memory is probably not that accurate on the subject.

I only say this after my own mother asked me in all seriousness when my birthday was. I told her that I thought her memory of the actual day should have been more vivid than mine was. I was 36 at the time, only 38 now. She is not quite 60 and her memory seems fine in all other areas. Sometimes our memories play tricks on us though.

Do you have a younger sibling she could be confused with?

Just picked up the mustang from the paint shop... not a bad job.
On the way out of the paint shop I found that the brakes were nonexistence.
They worked before the accident. I'm sure I can't get the insurance company to pay for this.... I was so close to driving it again.
I guess it's time to shell out money for a rear brake leak repair !! :wall:

I have had that car since I was a kid in high school, It is always nice to drive.
Between the healey radiator fiasco and this brake problem, I am not enjoying
any driving time.
