I need to get some "junk" out of a friends garage and don't really want to "clutter" up my bigger garage. Have 2 948's, both should run, have good compression, as I remember.....and 3 smooth case trannys, condition unknown. One engine and tranny I purchased in Knoxville when I thought I wanted to restore my 60 Bugeye back to original. The other engine came with the car, it was purchased in Ft. Worth. A spare smooth case was included.
I have since acquired a 1275 rebuilt at Rivergate that is matched with a Datsun 5 speed. I don't really see the need to keep the original parts. However, I probably should keep at least one.
If anyone desires a 948 and one or two smoothies I would part with them for 1 beer (if you pick them up). The cost for delivery is 2 beers (plus gas, or more beer).
If I am not going to use them someone else should, ...err.. at least one.
Given that I drove to Ft. Worth to get the project, then to Knoxville for the engine and trans and then again to North Carolina to get the 1275.......Delivery is not really a problem if it is within a tank of gas (+/- 300 miles from Bridgeport, WV) Oddly enough when in NC picking up the engine there was a 73 TR6 there also......hmm, came home with that too (after coming home to get the trailer and going back).
The board seems to be filled with folks worth meeting. If an offer arises that helps me clean house, er garage, I might be up for it.
As a side note, I spun the original engine and the compression seemed to be well above 100, which seems high. I seem to remember a post from a year or two ago when I checked. I will go back and look for it. If true that would tell something not quite ordinary.
Any takers?
