Drove down today and picked up our new MGB...
The good news,
Body seems solid, no rust or major body damage. It runs! Sounds nice and starts easily. 54,000 original miles...I am the second owner. Original owner bought it new in 1980. Title is from 1984 when the bank turned it over to owner.
Amazingly...clock, signals, horn all seem to work well
The Bad news...
Owner died in late 80's and car has been abused ever since. Not sure who did this to it, but...
Paint is gone...has spots on the side that have been poorly retouched
No seats, carpet, top, console is destroyed, dash is cracked
lots of surface rust
Electric fuel pump is added and in the trunk
Don't know what's up with ignition but it has a push button start on the dash (and they cut a hole to mount it)
Dash is cracked, all rubber seals around windows, windsheild and doors are dry rotted and need to be replaced.
No interior.....
Anybody interested in some really ugly colored Miata seats? I'll sned em to ya for the cost of shipping.
Here are some pics just for fun!

I still recommend holding onto those seats....and recovering them....you may even be able to have them dyed to the colour you wish (black?)

Miata seats are a desirable conversion throughout the MGB madness.

The fuel pump in the trunk would be a factory set-up....if it's on the right hand side and possibly covered by a small black box....it's also possible that an aftermarket pump has been put into the factory position.

door gaps look as if the integrity of the body has held out, actually they may be too consistent as I've learned here. Anything too close to a straight line is suspicious /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif

The car has tremendous potential, and it is a great find.
IMHO, not having carpets makes it easier to re-upholster without getting the dirt, dust and mold all up in your face when you rip it out.
Does anyone else notice the size of the wheels/tires? Look a little beefy....
Keep us posted!
