Just finished rebuilding my ZS 150 CD carb. However I could'nt for the life of me find that very small O ring that i9s very important in the dashpot. Apparently it keeps the dashpot from loosing oil. I took the netering need out, looked in both ends of the tube but could'nt see anything that even resembled an O ring. Can somebody tell me how to find and replace this very important part..
Thanks

The rebuild procedure in the manual says you should not remove the adjuster that needle screws into. With that being said, (disclaimer) I can tell you that I did remove it and found that I needed to replace my O-ring. Once you have the needle out of the air ram and the diaphragm off the top (so you don't tear it), you can take the adjuster out. Flip the top over so that you are looking at the brass busing that the needle would normally go through. Take a small punch and stick it through the hole. Feel around gently till you feel that end of the screw (that is the adjuster) Lightly tap on the punch with a small hammer and you will eventually feel it start to move up the ram towards the top. It is a screw that has an O-ring grove in it and is held in with a star type washer. Careful of the washer and screw when it comes out. I don't know if you can get replacements.

Hmmm, flip the top of what over, the air ram? or do you put the punch down the tube that holds the oil and whack it that way ? Also don't understand "the brass busing that the needle would normally go through"
Sorry but need more help with this one..
Thanks ahead of time..

jcatnite, Ok figured it out and did the job in about 10min. All I can say is the bravest man in the world must have been the first guy to stick a punch in there and hit it with a hammer. But a hammer and punch works a treat and the job is done.
Thanks Don

Sorry I just now got to check back in. Glad you got it bud!

JC,
I belong to another MG site thats based over in England. A guy told me not to use a punch and drive the washer up the tube because if you scratch the inside of the tube it could screw things up. I can't see where scratching the inside of the bore would hurt anything or harm performacce do you ?

PS the site is MG Enthusiasts.. Lots of info there. Ive belonged to it for about a year now and their archives have tons of MG material. Its been around for years..

Well, I think that it you scratched it down where the adjuster seal against the inside of the tube there could be some oil leaking issues but as far as I can remember off the top of my head, there is nothing else inside that chamber. I would just be very careful taking it out. Actually reinstalling it proved to be more scary to me than taking it out...lol
