Z3 leaky top

Howdy all!

My beloved girlfriend has a 1997 Z3 that recently received a high-quality new top (perhaps four or so months ago). However, as the top tightens up, the car has started to leak over the driver's and passanger's windows in the rain. Top was installed by a dealer in Tennessee, and we're in DC, so going back to that dealership isn't an option.

I recall that window seal rubber comes in different thicknesses for our LBCs to correct this issue (I say "recall" because I've never actually dealt with this -- all the cars live in a garage so I don't really pay much attention). Is the same true for modern convertibles?

Any thoughts on solution would be appreciated. We'd rather fix it ourselves than pay someone locally to do it, and of course, we're pretty handy when it comes to such issues.

Thanks!

Does she still have all the paperwork from when she had the top replaced at the DC dealership? I mean if it was that high end of a top, I would think some sort of warranty that should've came with it.

If so I would think any Bimmer dealership should handle the repair work and or replacment.

Worst case you might have to make a few calls to the dealership who performed the work and get them to talk to the local dealer.

Not sure about the BMW, but Alfa's have a cable adjustment to keep the window flaps tight when the top is up.
