YouTube to the rescue again!

With flat towing don't you just use a chain and a buddy to run the brakes?

April Fools' Day was two days ago... :smirk:

Not for 300+ miles you don't!

300+ miles. That will give your Buddy plenty of time to Update their FB profile and post to twitter etc.

Coming back to the wonders of YouTube the dishwasher popped an error code this week and would not stop beeping at me! In fairness it was a 'leak' code so there was no interest on the part of the dishwasher (or the owner) in having a leak on the floor. In simple terms any possible leak source is directed to a float that when full triggers the code. Three videos later and I knew exactly where to look - there was a grease buildup binding a flap valve. A little judicious cleaning and Bob is your mother's favourite brother. :D Well not quite - hooked it all up and it popped a second code which proved to be me forgetting to hook up the sensor - rookie mistake. At any rate all is good again.

Youtube is a good place to find some information on how to repair these new fangled gadgets we have in our lives. I have used it before to tell me how to replace the headlights on my Toyota because I couldn't wiggle them out in the space I had, it turns out I had to remove the entire front bumper assembly. Who that that was a good idea.

Did a YouTube search to see how to replace the fuel filter on my 2005 Toyota Highlander.
YouTubers are really boring and given to distracted comments about insignificant crap.
Found out eventually, I need to remove the back seat and pull up the carpeting.
Since the car is running fine I'm going to leave it alone.

Amen! Doing an oil pump R&R on a pal's G37 V-6, th' "Tube" came in handy, but only after wading thru way too many inane comments. And extra "steps" that should be obvious to anyone attempting a "deep dive" into fixing complex equipment.

The Five Famous Words most reviled: "All you have to do..."

I've found that not all YouTubers are created equal. Some are absolutely horrible, but, I have found many who were excellent. I was recently looking for a video on how to extract the door lock mechanism from my son's Kia Sportage. There were very few such videos available and they were all terrible in production quality, but did give me enough insight to allow me to get the job done.

I have also learned that you can speed up the videos - 1.5 speed is usually quick enough to figure it out without making it ununderstandable.

That's interesting. I didn't know you could do that.

On the bottom of the screen (when you hover over it) the settings 'gear' allows you to change the speed
