I don't use an ad blocker on YouTube pages. For the last 24 hours YT has blocked me from viewing videos, with

If you're sure you're not using an add blocker, then I'm not sure. If you have any ad blocker program at all, try temporarily disabling it. Does your browser maybe had some built in add blocker?
 
Thanks. A built in blocker? I use Chrome, but I don't think Chrome has a built-in blocker. I *do* have it set to prevent pop-ups - maybe that's the issue? I don't use things like third party blockers.

The basic issue is probably that I have very little patience with frequent interruptions. A one minute YT video which starts with a 15 second ad, then another one about 30 seconds in - really gets my dander up. (How's that for an out of date expression!)
 
do you use a VPN? I find it sometimes does funky things.
 
I used VPN a few times on my previous browser (Opera).

But "funky things" are pretty much the digital standard these days.
