Your Computer Desktop

Quote:] Basil, good luck with that bedroom door! [/QUOTE]

My thought exactly!

Below is my desktop picture. I keep it as a reminder of what my car SHOULD look like when it's done.

Here's my wallpaper photograph. It's my old TR3 being raced by the new owner at PIR. I miss that car so much I can't stand it. I put so much work and love into that car! I had to sell him and it broke my heart.

I get choked up every time I turn the 'puter on. Why do I torture myself?

Good eye Jeff. Grass strip at Northwest River to be exact. Extra pic of the 'emergency equipment' at the strip. Barracks rats included.

I thought it looked like that area. I was at "The Goose" in early '69. It was much whiter then!

Nice shot of the Jungmeister, Scott. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif You don't mind if I borrow it for my desktop for awhile, I hope! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Sure, PM me with the resolution you need /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Scott, thanks, but I just saved the picture from your post, and then put it up as my desktop. Seems to look just fine.
I've always wanted to fly a Jungmeister, but have never gotten the chance. A bit more power than my Pitts had!

I change the wallpaper pretty frequently. This is the photo I'm using right now:

I have very few icons on my desktop (by choice-I'd love to finally figure out how to hide the last few!), because I usually use a photograph, and want to see the whole thing.

Go to this Microsoft site and download the "Tweak UI" powertoy. Run it (it will be installed in the c:\windows\system32 directory), and expand "desktop". You can check/uncheck the icons you want (or don't want) on your desktop.

Seems to me that there might be another way of going about that, because I had zero icons on my laptop for awhile.

Hi William,
If you are running XP (or 2000 I think), you can remove the “My Documents” and other icons this way: Right click on a blank section of your desktop and choose (left click) properties. Click the “desktop” tab and then “Customize Desktop”. At the top of the new window, un-check the desktop items you want hidden.

yup. NT 5 (Win2K) is th' same.

OH that Bucker Jungmeister be a very clean one Aerog. Used prior to WW 11, to train Luftwaffe pilots. Yes it was grey with a very dark grey cowl and the Swastika painted on the tail.---Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

You guys put me to shame with the fancy artwork. My desktop is blue with wall-to-wall icons. I use the same 15 or 20 apps every day and have an aversion to the Start menus, I guess.

Stuck in the world of Windows 3.1

William, nice photo!

As for hiding desktop items, there is an easy and very useful way that not many people know about. Create a folder and put shortcuts for everything you want access to in it. Then drag the folder to any empty edge of the screen. It will become a tool bar. You can set it to "auto hide" and "always on top" to make a neat pop-out menu. You can even put your "my computer", "my documents", etc in it. Be sure to put the folder somewhere other than the desktop before you drag it or the folder will remain on the desktop! I keep mine in the root directory.

LOL, a fine trick that, love it.

Jeff,
Spent 2 years there. Guess you meant white like these.....AFCS then. Outstanding fishing. Seasonal of course.

Right now I have my friend Bruce's Mini (taken by me, at Summit Point) on my desktop.
I had my "Pit Stop" picture last week.
At work, my Aeronca is on my desktop

I do the same thing as Steve_S (with the "folder-toolbar")to keep my desktop "clean".
