Your advertising "profile"

After reading the New York Times article about the "advertising profile" being generated by our computer browsing habits, I decided to look up my profile.

www.Bluekai.com/registry/

(Scroll down to find your profile, it is divided into different sections such as "personal", " hobbies....)

According to my work computer, I apparently live in the UK ( not true) , personal computer has placed me in New York (not true but my overseas voting location is NY) , and apparently I have an apartment there.

I got 3 different estimates of income two of which put me in extreme poverty (I wonder how they got THAT idea! - I'm almost insulted!) and one estimate which was frighteningly accurate.

They also not surprisingly hit the age of my children, and that I am married.

I also think I deserve bit more credit than the HS diploma they credit me with.

The work computer shows a vague relation to my professional interests (actually considering the amount of on line research I do, they should have done a better job with that)

I clicked- guess they don't have anything on me... Am i supposed to click something on that page? I tried "Consumers-> See what data has been collected"

Just scroll down a bit and there is a section in Blue which allows you to edit or probably better OPT OUT (in very small letters of course)

That blue section just says: "We currently do not have any anonymous data on you."

I still get nothing- must be my blocking program is working well.

I get different results depending on which computer I'm using. One shows me living in Virginia and firmly embedded in three different age groups and three income categories. The other computer shows the same message Greg got.

I checked Google's "dashboard" a while back and was surprised at how far back my Google & YouTube history went. IIRC there was an option to have them stop storing queries.
