You Know You are a MG Owner When........

You think that reaching under the car and smacking the fuel pump with a mallet is a perfectly normal and acceptable part of starting a car.

You check the oil by looking for the puddles under the car, not by looking at the dipstick.

Your driveway has a wonderful, iridescent sheen after a light rain....

Your banned from parking your car on friends and familys driveways. You check parking spots for puddles before parking so you dont freak out from the extra amount.

The Autozone guys are scratching their heads wondering what could possibly use so much 20W-50 oil.

Not only that you are their largest market and they all know you by your first name.
You have their number on your speed dial.

Pete.

When you're 50 something and the cute college coeds return your look and smile, sometimes saying "cute car" :driving:

Showed this to my partner who was looking over my shoulder and replied:

"yes darling , that's because they know they're safe !"

OUCH !

Pete.

You know what the terms "Heel and Toe , flitch panel , nearside and off side" actually mean.

You refer to "Lamps" when every one else says bulbs.

You can unjam a starter motor by rocking the car in gear...BUT ( and this is the worrying part ) you think this is absolutely normal.

You develop a nervous , involuntary twitch when you meet some one named Lucas.

You automatically say Joseph Lucas when ever someone mentions ..."Prince of Darkness".

When you're 21 and driving one, they offer to drive it a few hundred miles round trip and stay overnight at your parents house to go to an English car show so they can see more.

You actually know what a 'plinth' is. And can use it in a sentence.

And you have a couple sitting beside your chair just now!!

You become an MG owner when a member of the dirty masses refer to your TR6 as, "That's a nice MG, mister!" You bristle and move on.....

No, back before I started the restoration of my '63 Midget, it had white painted wire wheels & looked exactly like the little Sprite Stuart Little drove in one of his movies....I even had parents asking if their child could stand or sit in the front seat so they could take photos....& little neighborhood kids would drop by to ask if they could show it to their friends....occasionally, I'd take one for a spin around the block & they were in heaven....but then Stuart changed to an Austin Healey 3000 for later movies.

That's one of the things I like about MGs TRs, Healeys & other sporting British marques in general; they really appeal to the kids. My B always seems to put a smile on a kid's face & that makes it worth it.
