you come in from the garage and you're bleeding in three places. Now three isn't even close to a personal record but it at least means that I'm accomplishing something. Tonight was continuing with the front subframe of the Vauxhall - got to a stopping place (more parts to media blast and paint) so, I took the brake and clutch pedal apart to also media blast. Very interesting to see how differently made these cars are than the Midget. Some things make way more sense, others er not so much. Yesterday was the steering rack - just pour oil in the end of the rack before you put the gaiter on. Sure made a lot of gurgling noises as I burped it. Tonight I had to drill out the holes for the new lower A-arm ball joint. Original was riveted but replacement must be drilled. Lots of fun.
Came in the house and SWMBO was watching Fiat commercials - any car interest is a rarity (though she does support me and pay attention.) She particularly liked this one
Abarth Commercial
Oh, and, had to take the Mazda into the shop yesterday - trouble light was on - again. Couple weeks ago all my rad fluid got dumped on the road - was the water pump belt tensioner. Told my mechanic to check the check engine light - he replaced the breather tube (the code was that it was running lean) car was fine - light came on on the way home - took it back, same code, then found a split hose vacuum leak, no charge!!! didn't make it to the end of the road before the light was on again - this time a misfire on the 5th cylinder, tested the coil and sure enough. Didn't realize that the car has 6 coils. So 1/2 an hour later (and $70) no more codes. All in all a good car day.
PS Got the appraisal for the Vauxhall (required by law) so I can put it in my name. woo hoo.
