I bought nozzle for the garden hose (Made in USA!).
I happened to read the "fine print".The following sentences
were on the card holding the nozzle:

"Do not spray water into an electrical outlet,
severe electrical shock could result",- AND:

"This product contains lead,a chemical known to
the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects,
or other reproductive harm.Do not place your hands in your
mouth after handling the product.DO NOT place the product
in your mouth".

You just know some moron did these things, then
sued the company for their ignorence.

John Smoltz once ironed a shirt while he was wearing it.

But in the good ole days lead wasn't dangerous.... what happened to it?

And I remember how cool it was to "play" with the mercury after a thermometer broke- fun stuff like putting it on a piece of paper and using a magnet to move it around... and other stuff, like making pennies all nice and shiney... am I crazy now?

(owing 3 LBCs- proof enough?) :jester:

Waitamimmit, James... magnet moving mercury around??? That sounds like there was voodoo involved, too.

And I recall dimes and quarters, not pennies...

...mebbe ya better go see a good physician. :jester:

Why is the lead only a problem in California?? Good thing I don't live there...I always drink right from the nozzle.

When I was a kid, I use to chew .22 caliber pellets. I'd hold 'em in my mouth fer a quick reload. Some got chawed on. Most folk believe I "aint right" or I'm "ate up". Might be sump'in to that thar lead pois'nin. So much so I even gave Kelly a disclaimer when we started datin', "I ate a buch of lead when I was a kid". We were talkin' about it last night. Didn't stop her, but I bet she now woulda read my label a bit more better 'fore she took me home !!!!

(When you think about it, whenever you see somone in a movie named "Billy", they are ALWAYS crazy!!! Everyone that I know that goes by that name is crazy too, myself included. I'm sure the lead didn't help any.)

Well,I chewed lots of pencils as a child. I'm the only sane person I know.I got 100% in the insanity check. :jester:
Oh, and those Californians know everything that causes harm! :jester:

Stuart.

I remember back in the early sixties, where I lived as a kid there were lots of mosquitoes, etc., because of low-lying terrain near a river, etc. (Hopewell, VA -- 20 miles east of Richmond on the James River).

The City would spray huge CLOUDS of DDT-laden insecticide from trucks that came around about once a week to drive up and down neighborhood streets. Clouds of insecticide so thick that you couldn't see for about half a block! As kids, we would RUN crazily through the clouds, recklessly breathing in the poison DDT-laced atmosphere in the cloud for minutes at a time. Did this many times, who knows how much poison I consumed!

I probably lost lotsa brain cells or something worse by doing that . . . not to mention getting cancer, etc. (lucky so far ).

We used to do a lot more risky stuff in those days. Prevention is a good thing. :yesnod:

yep, did the same thing in the early 80's but we rode bikes behind them for MILES !!!

so true..... did some wild things as a kids.... now I'm happy to just watch others do goofy things......

I did all of the above, but can't tell any harm from it.
Can't tell any harm from what?
What were we talking about?
Oh yeah, I did all of the above, but can't tell any harm from it.
Can't tell any harm from what?

I remember looking forward to the county coming out with their tanker truck in the dry summer months to spray the gravel roads down with used motor oil to control dust on county raods.

....Oh jeez, that reminds me, back in the 70.s we went to a sailing regatta in Calgary Alberta, and they sprayed oil on the dirt road to the Yacht Club, i had a very funky Falcon wagon that we towed the boat with, anyway it then rained and the Falcon got totaly coverd with the mixture then baked in the sun! The result was indiscribable, it was sure a great conversation piece!!!! The muffler fell off on the way back to Vancouver, were we ever a sight.......those were the days!

Also, despite all of the reports of products from China
that contain lead paint, kill people, etc.,Americans continue
to buy stuff made there.Why?
If an American company did these things, they would be
shut down, boycotted,& put out of business.I don't understand
this "double standard".

Heard they are again recalling those plastic mini blinds, again. Sounds like more work for the manufacturer to me.
