Looks like Lt. Col. Alfred Thomas "Goldie" Gardner returned to Bonneville in 1952 with the MG EX-135 where he set several othe records in the 1100cc class. Unfortunately, he crashed. It was the car's last run. Here are a few links with a little more detail.

Here are some good news reals:

https://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=75090
https://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=81695

Thanks for the initial post. I truly enjoyed the research.

Be warned, the www.britishpathe.com site is addicting!

I have a couple of hand-written letters from Goldie Gardner to my father. When I die, the chances are my kids will throw them out.
So where, if anywhere, should they be? The subjects aren't rivetting, but the writer is interesting.

He was a member of the British Racing Drivers Club. The club still exists. Maybe they would be interested.

EX 135 is the most successful record breaking MG ever built. It ran first on exhibition August Bank Holiday 1938 at Brooklands and then set records in England, France, Nazi Germany, and later after the war in the U.S. EX 135 started out life as a K3 and later received a streamliner body designed by Reid Railton. Goldie went on to write about his racing and record setting in his book MAGIC MPH. Fantastic stuff!

Roger, you can and SHOULD find a place - like those previously mentioned - to "loan" those letters to. That way, if your kids should ever develop a real interest in them they could retrieve them but in the mean time they would be properly preserved.

Hi gang I loved the videos and now I'm thinking of taking my 51 MG-TD to the Salt Flats and running it. If I can get it to do 100 MPH I will be happy. I hope to do this in Sep of 2010. I will take pix and video and post them. This is now just a dream, but I will work toward it. My car was a basket case when I bought it about 18 months ago and is slowly going together.
