A halogen bulb will typically run cooler than a standard incandescent

[/ QUOTE ]
While this might be true if both lamps had the same light output, the usual reason for using halogen is to get more light output. Typical halogen automotive lamps have higher light output & noticeably higher heat to go with it. A typical 1157H halogen bulb is rated at 15/50w & will run much hotter than the 1157 incandescent, rated at 8/27w. On headlights, which have a maximum wattage spec, the halogen may be cooler for the same watts. I think it is all in which lamps you compare?

a cheap alternative to bulb dye is Testors "jade green" model paint. it's translucent. It probably isn't as nice as the dye kit though

They were there when I got it. One fell off on the interstate so I took them off... they looked pretty darn good. I wish I knew where the previous owner got them...

Moss sells lamps, stem mount, that look similar to those. They have Lucas, which are pretty expensive, and some other brand that are about $35 apiece, in both a driving light and a fog.

Does anyone know where you can get a bulb dying kit as was mentioned above? I'm OK with the current intensity of my dash lights, no need for anything brighter provided all the bulbs are working. When I redid my interior I bought the interior light kit from TRF, which basically came with bulbs for the entire inside of the car. I'm assuming they supplied OEM spec bulbs. Thanks for the bulb number though, didn't know you could get them at Radio Shack. Either a colored boot or a dyed bulb would fix my problem.

Adam,
I boxed out the diff mounts during a repair.
I have an MSD 6AL & boost retard but as long as I keep the octane at or above 93 I can use a total advance of around 39 deg. 6 psi boost with 7.75:1 compression makes the motor very tolerant.

I plan to have some work done on my trailing arms, but once that is done the supercharger is going on. Right now I don't have any way of altering my timing other than moving the distributor!

Does the car start easy when it's cold?

No problem on cold winter starts. The SU's do suffer from icing when temp's are below 35 deg . After a long sustained highway cruise I may have trouble idleing for a moment until the manifold heat sinks some temp back in to the carb.
Other than that you would'nt know it was running on one carb.

You might want to try LED's They make a 1449 E 10 screw base that is a direct replacement for the stock bulb and they come in colors so you can go with the stock green or be different and choose another color Try this page www.autolumination.com Then click on the link "other automotive LED bulbs" You should find what you want there.
