It waas on the news tonight. They said the crowd turned on the driver. I'll refrain from any further comment...
 
When I see how close people are to the vehicles in these types of races, I wonder if any common sense is left. Sad but really people, stand back. I have watched people sit close to the road on the outside of a curve. Other people stand in the road until the vehicle gets close and then jump back.

Exactly, this outcome was foreseeable and preventable. Not to minimize the impact of this terrible event on its victims, but I am very concerned about the future of other events held on public lands. Many of us have experience with organizations such as SCCA and hill climb associations that take public safety so very seriously. Shame on these knuckleheads.
