Next time you're in the car stick your toe under the gas pedal and lift up. If the idle goes down it's probably a linkage issue.
 
Hi Bill perhaps there is a crack in the intake manifold or the intake manifold gasket is bad in a place where you can not see it. Try listing for a faint hiss. You might want to check and see if it has the correct needles for the jets or vise a versa.
