The entire north coast of the island is now under a tsunami
alert. The size of the waves has triggered the tsunami
warning system. It is reported 100,000+ are at risk of sudden
inundation by huge 25 foot roller waves.

The San Juan harbour has been shut down and locked down to
all boat traffic except military. Cruise ships and commercial
ships are stranded at sea in holding patterns. All boat traffic
between Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and Dominican
Republic has been halted.

I guess I ain't going tarpon fishing for awhile!!

That's probably a good idea. St Johns looks like it's getting
7 to 10 seas. Warnings are posted to stay away from beaches.
The radio says near record breaking high seas. Not normal.

Tony, Tsunami is just the name derived from the Japanese for the phenomenon. They can occur in any ocean, and even in large lakes if the geology is such that one is created (basically by a sudden shift such as a landslide or earthquake on the ocean floor). :thumbsup:
 
Lots of little rumbles going on, but nothing huge seismic wise in the Atlantic....

A day on th' island with a forty knot blow is Heaven compared with an Ontario March afternoon!

Phew! I just spoke with her and she is in the south of Puerto Rico near Dom. Rep. She's fine.
