Fired up an old computer of mine today that has been dormant for at least 7 years. A dual 1Ghz MSI board I built in the summer of 2000. Amazed the BIOS was still setup, guess the CMOS battery has some life in it still. The downside was the reason I turned it on was to use the film scanner. That gave me an error that the bulb wasn't bright enough. Boggle! I've just finished going through all my dad's old slides and I wanted to scan them to send to my sister and other family members. Gonna have to figure out a plan B.

We have an old Pacific Image PF3600 Pro here. Works well enough, on any O/S Microswift has put out so far. Some on fleabay for cheap.

Well, I took the scanner apart today to look at the bulb. Funny thing is the bulb lights up when I turned the scanner on. It only stays on for a second then goes off. Reinstalled the software, but that didn't help.
