Yard Bird [oil-less fryed turkey]
We had a dry run for Thanksgiving, We usually deep fry a turkey , But this year we decided to try the Char Broil oil-less turkey fryer and it worked out great!
I brined the turkey as usual with 2 cups of sea salt, one cup of brown sugar, one small can of OJ concentrate, about 1/4 cup of black pepper corns, I then let the turkey sit in the brine for 24 hours before I cook it.
The instructions say to expect about 10 min. per pound, So I was figuring 2 1/2 hours, I checked it at 2 hours and we were getting close to the 165 deg. internal temp :hi5 within a few min. were were at the desired temp and I pulled it out to find this!!
It was perfect!
We are having both my families over to our house for Thanksgiving this year so I needed to make sure I could manage this part of the day, Should be fun, We are planning on having 2 turkeys, I havent decided if we will bake or deep fry the other :dunno:
Now I can go home and make some tasty turkey soup with the leftovers.
