"Ya never know what you're gonna find...."

I went to a shop that has old hardware for houses for sale today looking for some door plates. Shop was an eclectic mix of everything. If they don't have it, you didn't need it. :smile:

While I was hunting for my door parts I found a milk crate with old IL license plates. For giggles, I went through the crate and whaddayaknow....a matching pair of 1968 plates in fairly decent shape! $6 later and bob's-your-uncle! Cleaned them up and I'd say they are in about 7.5 - 8 condition. And now that I'm thinking about it, I'm going to have to go back.....pretty sure I saw a 1956 plate but passed on it!

Nice score! Can y'all run year-of-manufacture plates on your cars? We can here in UT, and the old plates just look right on the car.

Yes, we can. You have to have a set of antique plates in the car (which I do) and then you can run period correct plates on the vehicle. My 63 RHD Mini wagon still has it's orignal Brit "plates" on it. I had a left over 68 Florida plate that I put on the MGB. No issues (knock wood) but wanted the IL plates just in case. And for $6 why not. :smile:
