The new Hyundai Santa Fe we bought for the wife came equipped with XM Radio (3 mos free, but I've subscribed for a year). There are a couple of hundred channels of just about anything you can imagine. There are channels with just 60's music, 70's, 80's, classics, jazz, bluegrass, hip-hop, hard rock, soft rock, love songs, talk radio of various flavors, cspan, Fox News, CNN, Sports, ESPN. There is even on Old Time Radio station (I was listening to an old Bob Hope show last night). You can also log in and listen over the internet. In fact, as I'm sitting here working on some forum programming stuff, I'm listening to Channel 23, The Heart. They are currently playing Toto's I Won't Hold You Back. Cool stuff! ...oh, now Bette Midler is on singing The Rose. I'm really liking this XM radio!

Welcome to the club Basil! I too love my portable XM receiver, because it is a life saver from the normal radio stations out there and is a good send on the open road or when traveling to another city where Iโ€™m not familiar with the local stations. Wherever I go Iโ€™ve always got my favorite stations at the touch of my finger tip. Another aspect of satellite radio is that many of the XM stations are commercial free.

My pre-sets are mostly the decades (60โ€™s, 70โ€™s & 80โ€™s), country music channels as well as a few classic rock stations, cable news and talk radio stations.

There are a couple of stationes locally I listen to at certain times of the day for specific shows, but that's about it. Almost all of my music needs are met with the XM channels. In addition to the decades channels, I also like the Blend and the Mix (and sometimes Heart) for music.

Good stuff!
Have all the cars in the flotilla wired up for Sirius, all I need to do is move the reciever from to another.
Enjoy.

Old days? That's new-fangled stuff! I don't have one of those things in my car.

Stubborn Steve says: If you can't stand to drive without a radio then you ain't drivin' the right car! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Das right, welcome to the future. I love the XM, have it in the garage and the truck. Also have a portable that I can set on the battery shelf of the B and listen to jazz when we're on a club drive. Great stuff.

As a New Mexican that travels by car alot...I found it was best to have Sirius...or XM as once you leave the city limits, nothing. Late at nite or early mornings you get some skip...LA, Denver, Dallas...but you don't keep it long. If I have to drive to Albuquerque or El Paso...I click on my Sirius as soon as I get in whatever vehicle we're in.

I love XM, it gives me a chance to listen to all my liberal Air America channels. Randi Rhodes, Mike Malloy, Rachel Maddow, etc.

Rock on.

Here here! 67 GT - no radio. Gotta hear the machine.

Its also awesome for travelling across the country..no more losing stations and searching for another as you pass town to town. 60's and 70's from Arkansas to Denver.

Baz, aren't you Welsh?
I thought you boyos could sing to ANYTHING /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I hear ya. There are times when I turn off the radio and just enjoy the drive, but I like to have the option - especially when I drive 1200 miles to Huntsville, AL (which I do regularly)

Technically I do have a radio. It's an old AM transistor that I keep in the glove box of the daily driver (1967 MGB GT) so I can check traffic if needed. It hangs nicely from the dash switches. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
