I have received these two jpegs from member Charles #677556. He tells me these were taken the summer of '67 just a matter of months after he purchased the DHC from a wrecking yard for $300.. Surprising for a car that's one of 1471 built in LHD!
Jagdreamer;
Sorry to take so long getting back to you.. I just never thought to look at pictures of my own car so I never saw your query until today..
To answer your question.. the status on the 120 today is: Body and frame sitting on a flatbed trailer and everything else in boxes.
I drove the Jag daily from May '67 till the summer of '75. in '68 I had a trailer hitch installed and used the Jag to tow my motorcycles to the races (I raced for ten years--three as a pro). I broke my neck in June '73!
I decided to paint the Jag in '75 and removed the brightwork.. since the original color had a re-spray over it, I decided to remove the bonnet, doors, rear wings and boot lid to paint everything.. the hood and interior needed replacing so I removed them as well.. one thing led to another and I reached a point of "only twelve more bolts and the body comes off".. I have spent the last 25 years finding and buying parts as finances allow.. I now have about 80% of everything needed to restore this lovely Jaguar.. right after I finish restoring the three cars I'm working on right now..
Everytime I do something on one of these "other" cars, I "throw in" a piece or five of the 120 and do it as well.. I have powercoated and painted several of the suspension pieces and am in the (off and on) process of sandblasting every nut, bolt and washer of the DHC. I'm going to have them "coated" in Black Zinc so they will be the "correct colour" AND will not rust.. The sandblasting of nuts and bolts is very slow, painstaking and labour intensive work.. a lot of hours spent for very little results, but the end result will be worth it.
Thanks for asking..
Charles #677556
