xk120 grill repair

i have a couple of slats in my grill that are loose. i've read about grills being damaged from welding them. should i find a mechanical way to repair the grill or is a good welder the best choice?

FYI: The grill slats are NOT welded but are silver soldered. You can not weld chrome plated brass. You can't even weld brass.
