XK120 door latch question

Still working on the 1951 XK120 body work. I have a question about the door latches. Are they just a single latch or should they double latch? What i mean is when you close the door should the latch click once and be completely closed or should they have to click twice before they are fully closed? So basically what I need to know is should the striker stop on the latch like in the first photo (where the screw driver is pointing) or should it go all the way and stop like in the second photo?

I've got the same car and don't have my latches fit yet so its a great question. That does look like just a single latch though , do the doors fit like they could latch the forward edge ?

I can get them to latch twice but then they are in too far and not flush on the outside. I also have no seals in place right now, so if they do latch twice I will have some adjusting to do before I finish the body work. The doors fit flush now if I latch then just once but I am used to most cars having a double latch for the doors.

You haven't moved the strikers out a bit to see how it works?
If you manually close the latches with door open, do you feel two detents in the latch? If so, it's double, and just move the strikers out a bit.

The door latches are a simple pull latch that latch over a spring loaded wedge. I need input from a 120 owner as they will know what I mean. These are not like more modern car door latches. These are like a door latch you would find on a 1930's car. I could modify the B pillar to allow the latch receiver to adjust enough to allow a double latch, but I want to know what is correct first.
