XJ8L Stainless steel problem

Hello,

ALL the stainless steel trim on my XJ8L is blemished. It looks as if there is a fungus on it. The body paint and chrome are fine. It happened overnight for no known reason. I took the car to Jaguar and they said it had to be from something in the air. I disagree. A body detailer said it looked like defective stainless steel. The dealer will not do anything. I have owned less expensive cars without a problem like this.

It is a 1998 with 40,000 miles. I keep it in a garage.

Has anyone ever seen anyhing like this before or know of any action I can take to get the dealer to repair. I have used chrome cleaner and it did
clean up a bit but it still looks bad.

Thanks

I would complain directly to Jaguar if I were you. They are much more inclined to play fair with you than your dealer. Dealerships tend to be populated by weasels who aren't interested in you unless you are in to spend money.

The dealer can't be bothered (hence the "environmental cause" excuse). Take the complaint to a higher authority. Jaguar Cars North America will probably listen.

Good luck, let us know what happens.

I agree go directly to Jag themselves. I have several freinds who got excellent results from talking to the company directly.
