Make sure the tensioners are replaced.
and för USA and british cars, there are also a nikasilproblem.
But the V8 engine is really wonderful.
I just sold mine, but how knows in the future, maybe buy one again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
The timing chain tensioning is a real problem that was prevelant until 2000. The tensioner does not have a mechanical spring back up and long term storage combined with less than satisfactory chain guide maaterial can lead to engine destruction with chain breakage or jumping cam timing. The models effected may be converted using guide and timing chain tensioner replacememnt. This negates the problem but may cost up to $2K. There is no recall out on this problem but there should be. The Nickasil material on the cylinder walls gets in trouble if you use gasoline with sulfer contamination. That has been taken care of by improvements in gasoline sulfer deposits, probably to conform to EPA standards. I think the XK8 is a great car and I will probably go for one when the right deal comes along. Best Regards, Jack
