I am recarpeting the jag. Need to remove the seats. They are fastened w/ a star head screw at 4 points. What size are these and what is the correct term for these fasteners. I will need to buy the correct bit to remove these. And 2 are rusty. OH Boy! Do I know how have fun on Christmas Eve, or what?!

Thanks,

Dan

Don't know the year...might be a spline bit...count the lands.

They are called "Torx Bits" Sorry, I don't remember the size. Might as well get a set. Merry Christmas.

Very odd. I had two posts, one delineating TORX and how to find the size. No idea where it went.

Anyway, quick recap, find an Allen wrench that snugly fits, take it down to the parts store, see what TORX bolt or TORX socket it fits, buy that sized bit.

Thanks Guys. What I need is a Jaguar sponsor... To call on in times of mechanical crisis. I am fixing up (I won't say restoring because it sounds more expensive) a 85 XJ6. Only paid $500 for her. Lots of work to do inside and out. I'm looking at it as my DIY Jag learning adventure. I appreciate your input and help. Merry Christmas.

Dan

Well, I a bit north of you. Call on me, don't know how much help I can give long-distance, but I've been there, and Gold Hill, and Medford.
