XJ12L 350 Conversion

Afternoon, I usually hang out on the Triumph Forum. Today though I spotted an XJ12L 350 conversion sitting forlornly on a side street in the small central Tennessee town that I live in. From what I could see the body needs paint and has a small rust spot on it. Seats are cloth and look decent. No major problems with the interior that I could see. Price is very interesting. So what should I be looking for and does the 350 conversion diminish or add to the overall performance/worth of the vehicle. Understand that I am a bit of a purist but this would become a daily driver so it will not be restored to concours standards. It would really be more like a "trickle restoration". Like drive it and when something breaks, fix it.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, Tinkerman
 
Most owners of converted cars swore as to the reliability and still had better performance. I believe a conversion is usually done because someone screwed up there V-12 with lack of maintenance. Car will be an easy AutoZone fix, and cheaper. I would check the engine and tranny and make sure the owner did not remain on the lack of maintenance side. Otherwise as a daily driver: ENJOY!
 
Should be. I had a *cheap* customer with an 88. He had so many warning lights lit that he spray painted over the VCM area, so he could pass inspection.He would ONLY fix anything when it made the car stop moving. Last time I saw the car in person, it had over 200K on it. I still see him driving it 3 years later.It is the most disreputable XJ40 on earth, but it is still running with the original engine and trans.As always, your results may vary.
