Wendy returned from her week visit to Estes, Colorado
last night very tired but satisfied with her trip.
A camera load of shots from the car show for me.

So nothing special this weekend. Get the house back
in order to it's regular higher standard, run errands,
get some Dungeness crabs and asparagrass for dinner.

Maybe find a few hours to work on broken down Crypty.

So wuz happnin' where YOU live??

dale- very happy to have my wife home

Dale
Trying to get a few things back up to speed here now that I know more of Annie's status (see your E-Mails) Glad Wendy's home.
Dave

Got a wedding to do this morning, driving the TR8 this afternoon, and "Jazz on the Lawn" at the local winery this eveing. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thirsty.gif

Playin' at some minor issues with Cowboy's MGB.

(note the cleverly camouflaged Lotus Elan in the garage.) /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

We here at Chaos & Mayhem PTY., LTD do an exemplary job of "Confuse & Confound the Enemy". The Volvo has served that purpose well. Who'd think there was anything worth a whit inside a clutter'd garage with THAT sittin' guard out front?!? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

At least you can see the mighty Fiat in my "garage". With two operational Volvos standing sentry duty.
Jeff

The Fiat ~RUNS~!!! If t'were so with the Elan things would be "rearranged".

"Operational" Volvos... hmmm... novel. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

A recent Volvo reliability story.

The folks Wendy was visiting drove their 7 year old,
40,000 miles on the OD, Volvo from Wash DC to Estes, CO.
The wife has been bugging for over a year to get rid
of the Volvo and buy a new one. Reliability issues.

Well, the Volvo did not make it to Estes- broke down in
the middle of an intersection in some state somewhere....
just like Crypty does to me all the time.

After three days of very expensive, emergency repairs;
they are back on their way to Colorado. The Volvo limps
along but dies for good in Denver- -two hours short of
their mountain cabin.

They take a cab to a Denver Volvo dealer who gives them $8k
as trade for their no-go Volvo he has never even laid eyes
upon. Dealer also gives them a loaner to drive to their
cabin to make arrangements to wire the Denver dealer cash
from Wash. DC.

Now they have a new car.

But, Dale, that Volvo is actually a Ford. Or, "Fjord" if you prefer.
Both of mine are earlier models, and stone cold reliable.

And, all of my LBC's are reliable as well. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Plans: Clean up around the homested. Also I get to teach the boy how to fix a busted window. He tried to play cat burgler after he forgot his key the other day & tried to gain entrance through the bathroom window.

But the big thing is my girls are returning with their mother from their two week trip back to PA to visit relitives.

Can't wait to see'em. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Right now I'm heading up to LA for a couple hours for some work related stuff. Two hours of work for four hours of travel - but becaue I don't really need all my tools (just my laptop & a couple hand tools) I think I'll leave the truck at home and take the Shark up. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Going for a cruise today in the 3 - not sure where?

Tomorrow - Mohegan Sun to let the wife get scalped by the Indians. For me, my first meet for the possible formation of a New England Kappa platform car club. That should be interesting!

Raining around here - finally! So, I'll just hang out in the garage.

Wife just came in from commissary with trunk full of groceries for me to unload....maybe I'll organize the pantry! That'll get her attention!

Hey Tony!

Are you having a dry spell?

We have been getting those bottom of the TV screen ribbon
alerts about terribly dry and awfully hot conditions in
several of the western states. 155* in Phoenix and 125*
in a place I missed the name. Warning old folks (like me)
to stay indoor in A/C.

Wendy was at 7,000 feet altitudue in Colorado and the temps
hit high 90*'s. She's happy to be back home in the tropics where it's cooler and not so dried out.

Its called a 'drought'...the entire state has been declared a national agricultural disaster area so farmers can recoup some of what they've lost this year...corn is only about 3' high & trying to make ears, cotton is too tiny to do anything with, wheat burned up....but the rains started y'day & hopefully will continue for awhile.

It's the first weekend of the famed Calgary Stampede

I'm chasing the women as usual... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

And all the men are wearing pink! It's for a good cause though... to raise funds/awareness of breast cancer

And one more street shot, I haven't made it to event itself yet, just did some street shooting...

Had to work today (because I took yesterday off to take all these photos), tomorrow morning is the Stampede Breakfast at our church, then I think I'll head off to the Stampede for the rest of the day after breakfast

Woke up late, called Tony Barnhill and went to the bank and post office, then off to work for a little bit. Right now, I'm working on a 1970 Road Runner. I remove a few nasty bits, and sandblast, paint, and re-install others. After waving goodbye to the Plymouth I pick up Jen in the Midget, we come back home, hang out for a bit, and then take a ride to go check out a Nagel print we saw advertised on eBay for sale locally. We got some Chipotle, came back home, and detailed the Midget. I plan on entering it in its first car show tomorrow.

chillaxed today... hung out at me friends' place; watched "Blood & Chocolate" and was disappointed. Then we place half a game of "Totally 80's Trivial Pursuit"; when the guys decided that the women weren't as "intoxicated" as they claimed to have been during that decade. Then we finished off with a round of "Spades".

I managed to get some car stereo and home theater window shopping in somewhere somehow.

Driving home to visit the folks for a bit. You have got to love technoligy as I'm posting this from a farmers field in BFE ND.

Here's my after-the-fact post....
Saturday was a big family reunion at my uncles cottage on Keuka lake. Went swimming, ate too much, played music till my fingertips were numb (seems all my cousins like bluegrass too), then tried to stay awake on the drive home (about an hour) at midnight.
then got up this morning, took the top off the Jeep, and headed to Watking Glen International for the IRL race. Beautiful weather, good turnout, awsome race.
I'm 'bout done now......
Been invited back to the cottage next saturday too...
Oh, and as long as this is a Volvo thread as well. My Juuly 4th mad motor swap in the 740 has had good results so far. Car running strong. WHEW!
