WTB 3.9 diff for Midget / Sprite

I got mine through Matthews Auto Parts on-line. I was watching the bidding in ebay for several of them and he was more reasonable than most, plus offered a 90 guarantee....the cost was $240 delivered. I'll see if I can find his URL. If he does not have one listed on ebay, call him and he'll find you one.

Check your local Craigslist- and Sprite/Midget from '69 on will be at least a 3.9 or maybe a 3.7 (which many of us would trade our 3.9's for!)

3.7's should be 1977 and up. Careful though, I think it was Trevor (Correct me if Im wrong) That bought a 79 for parts and it turned out to have a 3.9 in it

Yup, it was sitting in gravel without wheels and I couldn't get under it to check. For the money and convenience I took a gamble. I still got the parts I wanted and made a little cash, but I really wanted to try a 3.7; however, the 3.9 is fine.

I searched the entire USA for a 78 MG Midget rear axle and found four on this site (two listed as "79"). Plus plenty of other older axles.
I bought a trans for my race Spridget from this site 6 months ago. To me, it was easier and cheaper than eBay.

All the rears listed were about $200. I didn't see any in your area but this list changes all the time and most of these guys will ship anyway.
I didn't see any separate diffs (just the entire rear end), but you could call and see if they'd send you just the differential.

I actually tried this once when I needed one. (Medford Auto Wreckers has one Less than 5 Minutes from me) Although for some reason everyone here on Long Island thinks they have gold at some $400 + dollars!

I have scored real good deals on here though. I bought an exhaust manifold for a 1991 Chevy Lumina (only had 15k miles on it) for $15 + shipping from Parts yard in Indiana somewhere. Again these Long Island Guys tried getting me for $125 for a Cracked one! Why do you think I needed one! Geez. Agree though great site!
