There are some hostile people on Ebay!

I have a MGB listed, so this guy ask me
what the reserve is.

I tell him politely that
"If I tell you I might as well tell everyone,
but that is not the purpose of the auction.
put in you last best and final and we
shall see if you win it."

This guy comes back and continues to email me progfanity
and vulgar messages about myself, so I looked and can see
that he is a amature to Ebay.
Well after the 2nd email I reported him to Ebay, and after the
3rd, 4th, 5th. Making reports each time.
Blocking him after the 2nd, I can see if this guy got the car,
he would be a problem.

What happened to honor and carrying a professional attitude
these days?

I'm afraid that is long gone my friend. Block him and move on.

What you're describing is the behavior of the majority.

Motto for today: the Web brings anonymity.

And as several here have said many times, true character is how you act when no one is looking.

Without moderators, look how most web forums dissolve into irresponsible name calling, non sequiturs, and personal attacks.

Logic? Civility? Honor? Professionalism? The anonymity of the web is allowing them to disappear fast. Even primitive tribes have rules of behavior - or they kill each other.

Just wanted to brighten your day

I must comment. I do not think you are describing the majority of people. You are talking about the very vocal, very small minorty of people. They are just the ones that we remember and talk about. I purchased exacty one car thru ebay. The seller not only delivered the car to me(he was local) it was washed and had a full tank. Its was not a 30K triumph by the way, It was a $1800 saturn.

I think this situation is analagous to this - have you ever been in a car with a dog and had the windows closed and the dog in the car sees a dog outside? The dog in the car gets all Rambo...barking, making a fuss, acting like it would tear into the other dog like a runaway freight train. You know the other dog can hear the noise. Lower the window and the dog in the car goes quiet really quickly. I think you all know what I mean. It's the same here. Said person, looking out at the world through his "window", is barking, making a fuss, acting like he would rule the world. Lower his window and likely this person wouldn't even open his mouth. Things that make you go Hmmmmmm.....

I Wholeheartedly agree, the man being anonymous
when confronted in person, would turn cowardly and not have the chutzpah to say those things to my face.
