No politics here folks just making an observation so please don't read too much into this.

With all the terrorist BS early on, what do the Brits do? In typical English form they refuse to capitulate and have Wimbledon, the Diana Shindig at Wembley Stadium thrown by her sons and now we’ve got Silverstone!

Politics aside only a bunch of fools would think that they could intimidate the Brits. They weathered the Nazi blitz of WW2 as well as withering IRA bombings of the Seventies and still refused to capitulate.

"There will always be an England!"

Here, Here!!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Don’t know about the rest of ya, but I’ve always enjoyed watching the members of Parliament going at it over hot domestic issues. The orations and witty gabs that take place make me laugh. I mean they take that stuff serious and makes our US Congressional sessions seem tame and almost mundane.

But it’s a rare thing indeed when they put those differences aside and stand shoulder to shoulder. I still remember how the country came together during the Falklands Island War – despite one horrible domestic crisis after another at home – the country’s resolve was severely underestimated by the Argentinean dictator.

Now don't go gettin' all sentimental on us, Steve. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Just mentioned to the wife while we were watching the Boston firework show on TV night of the 4th "it almost seems embarassing sometimes how we celebrate so whole heartedly our independence from Britain, the country who represents our closest ally". and don't we love their cars....sometimes just seems ironic....but still PROUD TO BE AMERICAN!

I consider it simply a celebration of autonomy.

...now ~I'm~ doin' it! <edits post>

No need to be getting soft, my friend.....just talk softly and carry a big stick. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Sage advice seldom ages badly.

Just make sure its not concealed - unless you have a concealed carry license.

&, while its okay to carry a big stick, don't use it or you might be the one in jail!

Modern times!

Since we ex-colonies like to rib each other - the flip side of that coin from those younger siblings, the Australians.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:]When Iranian Revolutionary Guards captured the British sailors and Royal Marines in March, it was not exactly their first attempt. It turns out that Iranian forces made an earlier concerted attempt to seize a boarding party from the Royal Australian Navy.

The Australians, though, to quote one military source, "were having none of it". The BBC has been told the Australians re-boarded the vessel they had just searched, aimed their machine guns at the approaching Iranians and warned them to back off, using what was said to be "highly colorful language". Got a love those Aussies also. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif
