WOW!! Just got a call...

My tack: put the phone down on the table. As long as you don't hang up, they can't make another call to *anyone*.

T.
PS - I got caller ID about 18 months ago. Once I stopped answering the calls identified as TOLL FREE CALL or NUMBER UNKNOWN or CUSTOMER SERVICE, they completely stopped after about 3 months. I haven't got a crank call in over a year. keeping fingers crossed ...

My ex-fiancee' and I used to get telemarketer calls all the time. When they would ask to speak with the head of the household, I tell them hold on a min, and I would go into the office where we kept Houdini (a 12 year old umbrella cockatoo that loved to talk to people), and put it on speakerphone. Then I'd walk out of the office, shut the door, and go back to eating.

I used to get telemarketer calls on my landline at my last apartment, and occasionally I'd answer one if the number on the caller ID looked familiar. Invariably, when I told them I wasn't at home, they'd ask if they could speak to the Mrs. (I am single). A few times I deepened my voice a little and said "Speaking."

I do not make it a point to mess with telemarketers, however. It's a terrible job, and I don't see the point of making someone miserable for my own enjoyment.

Usually trying to sell us music concert tickets.

A pain in the patootie.</span>

Don't know if this helps, but here is a quick "How-To" on blocking mobile phone spam.

I usually take on the approach that I try to sell them something ridiculous as I can think of and tell them if they give me a credit card # I can off them a 6 month subscription to willie neslon's monthly farming magizine. It fustrates them and is funny as long as my kids or friends can keep from laughing. We take turns trying to make up new and even more dumb items....
