Worst Healey Ever

Just thought it would be interesting to see whos come across the worst shape Healey ever.
In my 20 years of Healey experience, I belive this one that I have is the worst I have ever seen. Sad story too. It was a fully restored show car when a tree fell and hit the barn it was stored in, sparking an electrical fire. They couldn't get to the car because of the tree and it burned. You can see where the aluminum shrouds melted. I bought it mainly because the engine/tranny/drivetrain are useful still.
I will be very impressed if someone can post a car in worse condition than this /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Harold,

Indeed you get the prize. I've been following Healeys for over 30 years and this one is the worst I've seen, no contest. With that level of deterioration, I'm surprised that the drivetrain is salvageable.

Would you mind if I used some of those photos in Austin-Healey Magazine? Sometimes I like to show bad cars to help make people appreciate their own even more.

Sure you can use those pictures, just mention Harold Brandner at BMC Classics in Florida /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It was burned in 93 or 94 and then sat outside which deterorated the car even more. Its sad, this car was once a concourse quality car

I guess nobody has any really bad Healeys to show?

The tires look pretty good.

Here is the after.

Steve

nice rust on that one, I bet that was fun to fix /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

When I click on the attachments above, I can only see one picture, the same picture. How do I view the others?
While were on the subject, how do you add pics to the post area, vs the attachment area above?

Just happened to have a few photos of a really bad Healey. It's amazing how people restore these derelicts to their former newness, even better than new in some cases.

So, wouldn't that go on EBay as an 'ideal restoration project'? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

I'd pass on that one. I did enjoy rebuilding my Healey. It was all there, and not burned like that one. Will the trash people haul it out? BTW my signature picture is that same car.

Final pictures of the Healey after cutting it apart. I'll use the engine/transmission eventually but for now the front half is in storage. R.I.P. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
And yes it would be interesting to bring pictures of it with me to a show as the "before" pictures of a restored car...haha
