"World's Oldest Running Car"...

If it is truly the worlds oldest running car, it should be put in a museum in a controlled environment. The problem is that most museums, with the exception of the Smithsonian, don't have those kind of funds to play with. Jay L. should buy it and donate it. What the heck, it would probably be a tax write off for him anyway.

I see your point Paul, but there could be a flip side to that. If the Smithsonian got the car, they probably wouldn’t drive it anymore. Now if Jay kept it, it would still be the world’s oldest running car. I think it would be cool to see how long it would go.

A car like this is a daily driver for Leno. I love this guy for his ability to own, wrench & drive these cars the way they should be. I'd love to be adopted by him and be in his will one day. Go to his website and check out all the info on him & his cars. He is knowledgeble about each and every car.

Personally, I'd like to see Jay get it.
Jay himself is not some kind of miricle mechanic,(he does seem to have a good working knowlage of a wide varity of cars) But he has the funding to have in his employ a panal of some of the best.
I gotta say I respect the guy. His cars aren't just some big status symbol/ Trophy to show off his wealth. They're the result of having enough green stuff to fuel a deep passion for mechanical things that move.
It's about as close to genuine ( I think it is genuine) as it gets in Hollywood.
The last thing I'd wanna see is that car get locked up in some sealed room, never to be enjoyed again

Yeah - Jay should get it.I'd really like to meet him
in person some day.I probably never will.
I'd love to meet other true car enthusist (like Peter Egan),but probably never will.Imagine if I had their money!

Never say never...

I've crossed paths/broken bread/shared a pint/etc with Don Hayter (M.G.), Ken Costello (MGV8), Geoff Allen (M.G.), Bob Tulios (Group 44), Ron Gammons (Brown & Gammons), Dennis Gage (My Classic Car), and several others during my 30-odd years (and many of them HAVE been odd!) of M.G. ownership.

I was watching "Car Crazy" (at least I think it was that show) once, and they went for a joy ride in one of Jay's really old cars. I believe it had to be the World's Oldest Running ELECTRIC car. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif Electric Horseless carriage... thing had a tiller instead of a steering wheel! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Yea. I've met Tom Hnatiw from Dream Car Garage. He came to film a segment on the Superformance Cobras here in Watkins. He used a red one with a 514 and auto tranny owned by a real nice guy, Walt, from Binghamton, who had gotton the car from our shop. So a Car that I worked on was featured on DCG. The closest thing to fame I've ever had. And that's just fine with me.

I can't even say it normally...... Then again, I never claimed to be normal.

Other celebs/ semi celebs I've met are;
Tommy Hilfiger (hes a car nut)
Denver Cornet (MG racer)
Herold Peary (aka. The Great Gildersleeve)
Gale Storm (radio show fame)
Heywood Banks (comic musician)
OK I'm way off topic..... I'll stop now

We have a 1900 Locomobile steam buggy coming to the Iola Old Car Show next week. Runs and drives and it's another three owner car.

We also have a '07 Brush coming...the guy who owns it has had it since the early 30's!
