working on daughters Trooper

I was working on daughter's 4WD Isuzu trooper and decided to change timing belt. After removing skid pan under the radiator I noticed that the left strut bar is broken (the big nut bounced off my skull). OW! Well that explains the odd wear pattern on the left front tire. Any ideas on where to find a new one? Will I need to replace both? Think used ones from a wrecking yard are OK? I hate to spend a lot on this car, it cost under $1k anyway.

Head out to the local breakers' yard. Surprising the thing snapped off anyhow... Thought those lumps were built to roam the Serengeti! If t'wer me, it'd get ONE used one and out.

used one of those internet parts searches and got quotes from a couple of wrecking yards, any where from $45 (incl. shipping) to $180 (not incl. shipping) for each strut rod. went to the local u-pull it yard, paid $10 for a pair. apparently the 86 front suspension is different from the '87 & '88's as the newer ones dont have the strut rod assy, but a larger roll bar. now her car is ready for her to come and drive away and give me some more room in the driveway (and I finished before it started raining).
