Have you tried putting 12v directly to guage.
I'm not sure if I did apply 12v directly to the gauge - I believe I wired it up to simulate the typical situation, going through the sender (actually two senders, one brand new. I'll give it a try.

I did run 12v directly to the gauge and the needle doesn't even wiggle, so I'm quite sure the gauge is a goner. Thanks for the suggestion though.
